The first public debate on the heritage of the nuclear industry in Lithuania
On 25 April 2024, the first public debate on the heritage of the nuclear energy industry in Lithuania took place at the Museum of Energy and Technology in Vilnius, Lithuania. The discussion focused on what constitutes Lithuania’s nuclear heritage, the challenges of preserving it, and what alternative forms of meaning-making might emerge.
Participants: Valdas Ledzinskas, Head of Operational Planning of the Ignalina NPP; Robertas Motuzas, Deputy Director of the Department of Cultural Heritage; Viktorija Abaravičienė, Head of the Strategic Planning and Investment Management Department of Visaginas Municipality; Dr. Eglė Rindzevičiūtė, researcher at Kingston University London; Mykolas Bistrickas, Director of the Museum of Energy and Technology. The discussion was moderated by Prof. Marija Drėmaitė, cultural historian at Vilnius University.
